Flying high

Saturday we took a trip to the Air zoo. We’ve been talking about going for quite a while now but never got around to it until this week. I wish we’d have gone sooner as it used to be free to get in, you just had to purchase ride tickets if you wanted to ride those. But as of Saturday they now charge a minimum of $8 and it includes a couple rides. Which of course are just the kiddy rides so I didn’t ride any. Mr. B got the upgraded wrist band so he could ride the bigger rides like the flight simulator, which he did and said was awesome.

Little man wasn’t to impressed as this was how he spent the day:

Except for the one time daddy got him out to see one of the planes

We looked around at all the different planes and then headed to lunch at Red Robin. It was a fun day for our first family outing.

Mr.B wanted to try out the rides in the play area, I think he’s a little big.

♥ Family Day ♥

As you know my road from wife to mommy was long, with many disappointments along the way. Even though I love them to pieces now I was very sad to hear about the arrival of my niece and nephew, as I’m sure anyone who has traveled the road of IF will understand.

I started my 1st cycle of clomid in October 2009, which obviously was a failed cycle for me. But that was the month my step sister got pregnant.

My second cycle was November 2009, which again was another failed cycle, but not for my step brother and SIL. Which was a complete shock as their son was 20 years old. I felt like god was playing a cruel joke on me.

I jokingly told my friends that they stole my babies. I had a hard time being around them as I was so upset I wasn’t pregnant. I mean I was the one having blood tests every few days and paying for fertility drugs, yet I was the only one not pregnant.

My only hope/wish/dream was to be pregnant before they were born.

Towards the end of their pregnancy I listened to them complain about being uncomfortable and how they couldn’t wait to not be pregnant any more and all I did was long to be pregnant. Sometimes I really wanted to yell that at them.

Then July came around and my nephew was born...and I still wasn’t pregnant.

That month I started injections.

August came about and my SIL was having contractions all weekend, and I started spotting. I was devastated and didn’t know how I was going to see my niece. The thought of seeing her was actually making me sick to my stomach because I was so upset at another failed cycle, a failed cycle that we had spent so much money and time in doctors offices on.

As you know the spotting stopped and I did take a pregnancy test that ended up being positive on August 19th. So when my niece was born on August 28th I was so excited to go see her.

Looking back I feel bad for feeling that way towards them, but at least I never told them I felt that way. I did a good job at hiding my feelings because I knew it wasn’t their fault we were having problems. But it wasn’t my fault I felt that way either. That’s the life of an IF sufferer.

But now I have this beautiful niece and nephew that my little man gets to grow up with. And I may be a little biased but my little man is definitely the cutest and totally worth the wait, lol. The whole point of this story was because we spent the day with them yesterday, and he got to meet his great grandma. We had planned on going to out my dads for a cookout, but it’s been raining for days so we had to stay inside. But fun was still had.

Rik is 21, Avery is just a few days shy of 11 months, Grace was 9 months yesterday and John will be 5 weeks tomorrow. I can’t wait till they can all run around and play together. Well I don’t know if Rik will be running around playing with them, but I’m sure Grace will be expecting big brother to protect her from the other two. Although with her little attitude she can probably handle them herself.

Meeting great grandmaIMG_4251John is a tall little dude so I said that he was almost as tall as Avery, so we were comparing sizes.IMG_4262Avery and Grace playing, Grace did not want to look at the cameraIMG_4255But Avery was all about itIMG_4263Finally got her to look at me, but she wasn’t putting that toy downIMG_4256Having fun with daddyIMG_4261IMG_4265Daddy sure is proud of his little dudeIMG_4264I took several shots of this picture and there isn’t one where every one is looking at the camera. But these are probably the best 3. If I was better at editing I would make it perfect.IMG_4277This is Rik holding Grace, Great grandma holding John, and my dad holding Avery.IMG_4276

You’ve got a friend in me.

Chewbacca has been an only dog for a while and Mr.B has been hounding me to get a puppy forever. My response was always the same “no puppy until we have a baby”. After 3 years of the same excuse I’m sure he’s been sick of hearing it. On top of that we think Chewbacca has separation anxiety. We can’t leave him alone in the house when we leave because he will either pee some where or try to dig himself out tearing up the carpet in the process. One time he even chewed through a door to get out. So I really do think that if he had a friend to keep him company he would calm down some, as we didn’t have this problem when we still had Phoenix (she got out of the yard and never came back).

So on Friday I gave in. When Mr.B got home from work I said “maybe Bacca could use a friend” and that’s all it took. We were off to the Humane Society to look at puppies. They had a few puppies that we thought were cute so we went to ask about them. Apparently puppies at the Humane Society are $200. A tad steep if you ask me. But we decided to fill out an application anyways. I couldn’t believe how indebt this application was, we even had to list references and our work schedule. Well Bacca isn’t fixed, which we didn’t think would be a problem since the girl pup was, but that made us ineligible to get a puppy from there. So we left with out a friend for Bacca.

We went home and I started looking on Craigslist to see what I could find. There were tons of puppies listed but none that really stood out to us. We finally found the cutest Husky with blue eyes but they wanted $300 for her. So we passed.

On Sunday I found an ad for a boy/girl Lab mix so we called them and left a message. But they never called back. On Monday I decided to look again and saw the ad for just the girl lab and emailed them. They emailed back and said we could come get her that night if we wanted. So when Mr.B got out of work he went and checked her out. He fell in love with her and decided she was our new baby.

So without further ado meet Mara:Mara

She looks a little straggly here because she had just had a bath and we went outside where it was very humid. They said she is 8 weeks old which would put her birthday right around the first week of June, which I think is cool since my bday is June 2nd and Mr.B’s is June 4th. Guess she was meant to be part of our family. I just hope she doesn’t have the Gemini attitude to go with it.

I’m not sure Chewbacca is happy about her but I’m hoping he will get used to her. He has finally been playing with her some so I think that’s a good sign. She is really small, I mean really small. We got Chewbacca when he was 6 weeks old and I think he was 3x this size. So hopefully when she gets bigger he will enjoy playing with her. But right now she fits in his mouth, lol. Here are a couple shots I took this afternoon of them playing, you can really see the difference in their size.IMG_3588IMG_3591IMG_3606IMG_3607IMG_3612IMG_3614

Prom...

Last week my sister went to her senior prom. Before hand I went over and took a few pictures of her and her boyfriend before they went.

This weekend is her graduation. Man I feel so old...I can’t believe my baby sister is graduating from high school. Seems just like yesterday she was watching Sesame Street and Barney. Where has the time gone?

Cousin Love

After my aunts funeral the family headed back to my grandmas house. A few took naps while others chit chatted. Later that evening out came the alcohol, cause what family get together is complete with out a drink, lol. I did not drink though, as I had to drive home, and you know, being a few days post ovulation I played it safe. But later I busted out the camera and took a few snap shots, as it has been a few years since we’d all seen each other.

My sis Katie with Launce, Steve and GretchenIMG_2864-1  My mom says you should cover your double chin for pictures, so here we are doing “The Mary”IMG_2873-1And here are all the cousins that were there: L to R: Back row: Tara, Me, Launce, Scotty, Steve, Gretchen, Front Row: Angie, Tara and Katie. Were missing Amanda, Vicki, Alex and Jared. I always thought I had more cousins, but when I see us in a group it’s really not that many.IMG_2870-1

So there you have it, a crazy get together in my family. I have a bunch of other pictures of them being goof balls that are on my facebook if you’re a friend. I will also be uploading them to our Picture site if you want to check the rest out.
