Last Friday I went out to lunch with a friend of mine and then she helped me pick out some plants. We went to Horrocks and they had a much bigger supply of plants than I was expecting. In fact, during lunch I had even asked Teisha (my friend) if Horrocks sold veggie plants. She told me that they in fact did, but neither of us realized how many there were.
But I will say that they had so many different kinds of each veggie that I was at a complete loss as to what to get. I knew that I only wanted a couple of each veggie as I didn't want my garden to big this year...after all it is my first attempt. I also knew the 4 for sure things I wanted: summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes and cucumbers. But I had no idea there were so many different types of each veggie. I mean they had to of had 20 different types of tomatoes.
I swear we had to of been there over an hour and I only spent $20 ($7 of which was on potting soil). That's a great deal if we get lots of fresh veggies out of it. I didn't think about it at the time but several of the plants were in a 4 pk and I counted them as 1...so I bought 2. So now I have 8 of each plant instead of 2!
But I settled on summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, honeydew, green peppers and cilantro. I haven't got them planted yet but hope to this weekend. I also think I am going to go pick up some strawberries and maybe some blueberries (I don't like them but Mr.B does) this weekend. Reading what I just wrote makes me think I have plenty of plants and may be jumping in to deep. Time will only tell I suppose.
Pictures to come after I get them planted!

I am also making my first gardening attempts this year. I'm taking it slower than you, but still enjoying it. Good luck!
We are doing tomatoes and peppers for the first time! I say "we", but I really mean Brian :)
