Integrity or not?

I've come across a blog today that spoke of a site called Blog with Integrity. I feel that I am a blogger with Integrity. So I signed their pledge and thought I'd post about it here.

BlogWithIntegrity.com

So what is Blog with Integrity you ask? Well here is the info from their site:

By displaying the Blog with Integrity badge or signing the pledge, I assert that the trust of my readers and the blogging community is important to me.

I treat others respectfully, attacking ideas and not people. I also welcome respectful disagreement with my own ideas.

I believe in intellectual property rights, providing links, citing sources, and crediting inspiration where appropriate.

I disclose my material relationships, policies and business practices. My readers will know the difference between editorial, advertorial, and advertising, should I choose to have it. If I do sponsored or paid posts, they are clearly marked.

When collaborating with marketers and PR professionals, I handle myself professionally and abide by basic journalistic standards.

I always present my honest opinions to the best of my ability.

I own my words. Even if I occasionally have to eat them.

So I do feel like I am a Blogger with Integrity, and I hope you agree with that. I will say that the blog I found this on I did have a problem with. Everything she said in her post about being a blogger with Integrity went against that. I guess some people just have a different opinion on right and wrong.

I also feel that if I am to do a product review that my personal opinion about said product should stay out of it to a degree. The point of a review is to state whether or not the product lives up to the hype the company has given it. That it performs as the company says. It's not about your belief in not eating foods that contain red dye #3 or not using that type of pan. Those, in my opinion, make you a bad reviewer. I also do not believe that one "sells out" if they do a review on a product that they don't or wont normally use. Doing product reviews is a job, you get paid for it. So like I said it doesn't matter if you don't like green scarves, the point is does it keep you warm?

I myself will review any product I feel comfortable using during the review time. That may be the only time I use it, but I'll give my honest opinion on the product its self. I won't tell you I don't like it because I hate the color green, or because it's not all natural.

I hope that's ok with you guys and it doesn't make me a sell out.
