20 weeks in and 20 weeks to go.
It still seems so far away, yet so close at the same time. I had a small freak out moment last week when I started working on our registry. We need to get so much stuff, and I feel so unprepared. I then reminded my self that I still had a few months, but man it really is going to come quickly. Before I know it Christmas will be gone and so will the new year, I just hope we can get everything ready.
On Sunday I had some spotting. I wasn't to concerned since I did have spotting at 4 and 6 weeks, but after talking with a few people I decided to call my OB on Monday, even though I felt funny calling in since it had stopped. I guess he felt it was something that should be checked out so he wanted to see me in the office. So I went in yesterday afternoon. He did an exam and said my cervix was closed, I wasn't dilating, and my urine looked fine. He said I had no signs of bleeding at all now, and he had no idea why I had been.
Before the exam I had told him about a pretty intense pain that woke me up the night before. It lasted about 20 seconds then stopped and started again, it did this 3 times. I was holding my stomach to see if it were tightening at all as some of the girls in my due date club had been complaining about braxton hicks contractions already. But it wasn't tightening at all, so I don't think that's what it was. I then fell back to sleep and didn't have any more pain, until I arrived at work. Then I started feeling the same pains as I did the night before, only now they were sharp and very short and projecting downwards. It continued throughout the day every so often. Nothing seemed to make it happen as it occurred whether I was standing or sitting. This pain concerned him more than the spotting did, but it was even more worry some with the spotting. So he wants me to have an US done this week, even though I just had one done 2 weeks ago that was normal. But it's only a matter of hours and things can change I guess. So on Friday I will get to look at Jr again.
He also had me go to the lab and drop off a urine specimen so they could do an actual urinalysis on it instead of just the dip they do in office. And as long as that is fine and my US is fine on Friday then I don't need to go back until my appointment in 3 week, or I have any more bleeding.
Other than that it has been a pretty good week. I haven't gotten sick in a while and I'm not feeling to run down tired. I hope this trend continues and I have a perfect second half of pregnancy.
As usual here is my weekly update, this time from the Pregnancy Guide:
Fetal Development:
We're halfway through the pregnancy, and the baby has as much sleep and awake time as a newborn. The scalp hair begins to grow. If your baby is a girl, her uterus is starting to develop.
Multiples: Your twins are each 7 1/2 inches long and weigh close to one pound each!
Maternal Changes:
Your uterus is at your navel now. You may experience some tenderness as your belly button becomes an "outtie" from the uterus pressing on it. The line between your navel (linea nigra) and pubic hair has darkened; it will fade after delivery.
You're probably feeling the baby frequently now as the movements become stronger. If you're having an ultrasound to verify fetal age, it will probably be scheduled around this time. It's a good time to look into childbirth classes.
Hey! You're halfway there already!
Fetal size from TheBump.com:
Baby's now the size of a cantaloupe!Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

I'm glad that everything turned out ok, and that the OB is being extra cautious. I'm always happy to get an extra ultrasound! :)
