I can travel around our little city no problem. I don't think there is a spot in town I can get lost at. But yesterday we had to take my sister to a concert in the next city over. Well we usually travel to this city for dinner at Olive Garden or other much better restaurants that we don't have here. So I can get to those places no problem, but finding the arena, now that was a problem. I had written directions but didn't print off a map, so once I was off those directions we were lost.
It wouldn't be so bad other than half the city is one way streets or every few miles split into 2 roads or change it's name. I don't know how anyone lives there and gets around. I mean I've driven in Orlando and Chicago and didn't need maps for either places after 1 trip through the city. I've been driving to this city since I was 16 and still can't figure it out beyond the 2 main roads I almost always visit.
So I've decided I need a GPS, well I've always wanted one, but now I need one. Any one want to buy it for me?
But as I plan to purchase one of these in the future, hopefully sooner than later, I have been doing some research. I've come to find that the
Garmin Nuvi 780 is above the best out there and at such a great price at Amazon it is in a price range we can afford. All though if I didn't have to worry about price I would go for the
Garmin nuvi 775/775T or the even better
Garmin nuvi 1690, but they are both way above our price range, lol.
Since those are out of our price range I will just tell you about the 780:
It has a ton of features that I love. It is Bluetooth capable meaning I can attach my cell to it and use it as a hands free device.
It is MSN enhanced: An integrated receiver allows you to access enhanced dynamic content from the MSN Direct service. Check the weather, avoid traffic backups, compare local gas prices, get enhanced movie listings, stock information, news and local events when you travel with your unit. Even plan trips from the convenience of your computer, via Windows Live Local, and wirelessly send custom to your nüvi.
The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where’s my car?"
At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, the nüvis in the 700 series automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.
And another big feature is the Garmin lock. Many people worry that if someone steals your car they can just look at your GPS unit to see where you live, so they recommend putting a location close to your home instead of your home. Well with this Garmin's Patent pending theft prevention system that disables the unit from performing any functions until the user types in a specific 4-digit PIN or takes the unit to a predetermined secure location.
Those are just a few of it's great features, there are plenty more, trust me. Hopefully soon we will add this beauty to our household and I can travel free!
